Emtek Group, the Indonesian owner of the messenger BlackBerry Messenger (BBM), has announced that the service will stop working for most users 31 may of the current year.
BBM could not compete with major players such as WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, Viber, Telegram and other. Emtek Group tried to save the project, adding new functionality and advertising.
Until may 31 all users can upload photos and videos to your device so after official closing authorization application will be unavailable. Export contacts is not provided.
The corporate version of BBM Enterprise with end-to-end encryption will continue to exist. The first year cost free, continued use will cost 2.49 dollars (~160 rubles) for six months.
BlackBerry Messenger released in 2005, and after a decline in popularity was bought by holding company of Emtek Group in 2016.
