Developer with Ukrainian roots Readdle released the long-awaited Android version of its main product — Email-client Spark. The output of the app is very well timed to the closure of the popular Google Inbox.
Compare the two services for Android in functionality and additional «chips» and find out — whether to go for Spark?
Have a Spark for incoming messages actually corresponds to two screen. The usual «Inbox» is not particularly interesting: it’s just a chronological list of all received messages that are not sent to other folders or files. But there is one more entity: the Smart Inbox.
«Cleverness» section is in the automatic Email distribution of the categories «Personal», «Notification» and «Subscribe». A similar idea is in the Inbox, but more groups (seven pieces!).
Otherwise look and sorted by letter: a Spark in each category there is a separate block, and the product Google are displayed on top of the card with the name of the type, and below is the list does not included in any of the categories of messages. What is the issue is almost personal, Spark clearer, Inbox — smaller, perhaps, unnecessary now the user category is not an eyesore.
In both applications there are gestures to perform quick actions on messages. But the Spark first, you can customize them and secondly, they just do.
A swipe to the right in the Inbox will archive the message or group of letters, to the left lays on a specified time. Have Spark, you can pull the card is also in both parties, but a long swipe in any of them will trigger another action. You can put on any of the four gestures removal, backup, move to folder, attach (similar to favorites), the postponement and the move to «Spam».
Especially useful in the Inbox to show attachments in the message list: you can open the document or image directly from your Inbox. Automatically processed even links to YouTube.
Design is a subjective thing, but let’s try to figure this out. Inbox by Google follows the Material Design standards. Paradigm is a bit outdated, because now the Corporation is promoting Material Theme, but the app still looks nice and easy.
Spark behind the guideline is not followed, the design is made in his style, the same used in the version for iPhone and iPad. On the loading screen, for example, «painted» statusbar in the background of the app: looks for 2019 scary. But there is a cool animation of the opening of the letter, although sometimes she twitches: chalk it up to a bug the first version.
Both applications take advantage of the opportunity reply directly from the notification, but do not implement shortcuts in Android, although they could «hang» the compose button or switch email accounts.
Then that Spark is far ahead of Google product. While in the Inbox there search operators to precisely search phrase or filter messages by date, all expressions need to memorize or refer to.
Have Spark using a natural language: the integrated search engine will easily understand the request «From Maria with attachments last week». However, only in English, so hope for a swift localization. Frequently used queries can be saved, search history too.
On the main screen each of the services there is a pin icon: it is responsible for the fixed messages that you may need in the future. All are able to snooze your emails to read later, but Spark is able to send Email on schedule: it is convenient to write letters at night and sent automatically in the morning so as not to disturb the source.
As regards postal services, the Spark is much seadna: supports all servers with Protocol IMAP and «Yandex.Mail», and Mail.Ru earn without problems. In the case of Google setup at all happens in one click. Inbox «digest» emails on Gmail. Already it is possible to add third-party boxes, but they are rarely synchronized.
Add multiple accounts there, and there, a Spark, and will allow you to select separate profile color.
One of the main features Spark — collaborative editing. Yes, you can write posts in a few hands, and to see live, and who writes. If someone worked in the «Google Documents» with others, understands how it works. To select the members of the working «team» has a corresponding item in the application settings.
In addition, the developers promise soon to Spark embedded integration with third-party services, templates, quick responses and a built-in calendar. What is not perfect service for your work email?

However, some time you can still enjoy and Inbox: a loophole to bypass the lock mobile apps have already been found.
