In his blog, Google said that the amount of clean energy purchased by the company exceeded the amount of energy consumed by data centers and offices.
In 2016, Google has expressed concern about its carbon footprint and company’s impact on climate change of the planet. To care of the environment, the search giant improved the energy efficiency of data centers and has developed a plan to transition to renewable energy sources: solar and wind power.
Technically, Google continues to consume electricity from municipal suppliers, but each used kilowatt-hours, the company offsets from renewable sources.
To do this, Google enters into long-term contracts with suppliers of clean energy. This energy goes into the grid. At the moment Google is the biggest corporate consumers with contracts for the consumption of three gigawatts of electricity.
