The representative of Apple told journalists from The Verge that the problem with smoothing face when creating pictures on front camera iPhone XS and XS Max will be solved with update to iOS 12.1.
It is reported that the root of the problem was the Smart HDR, which incorrectly chose the base frame for processing. Sometimes the algorithm gave preference to the frame with a long exposure, which obtained the photo lost detail and the result was a smoothing effect.
Recall that the front camera iPhone XS and XS Max 7 MP with an aperture of f/2.2 has optical stabilization.
At the moment iOS is 12.1 open testing.
